two cents over the weekend's transpiring and personal convictions.

PE (and GE, for good measure)
the recently concluded presidential elections has shown me just how big a factor emotions play a factor in politics. this being my first elections, and honestly the first elections where there was so much noise about elections (no doubt due to social media), i was keen to find out what this whole election thing was all about.

i think that in my pragmatic capacity, it was more than just pure fantasy that the electorate will vote based on logic. the way the votes swung, especially during PE, was a clear indication about how people just get, disgruntled with the ruling party for their own little discomforts, not that the ruling party is doing a fantabulous job, but that they must vote for opposition candidates that can serve the 'opposition' role effectively. in any case, the electorate (as well as the constitution) has spoke, no point crying over split milk. this system is as fair as it could be, having a couple of days of run repeated PE (including counting and all) would be something not even the most hard-line of opposition supporters would want.

my view: change, if it makes things better, is good.

football, money and madness.
united beat arsenal 8-2 last night. pity the gunners, they weren't outclassed per se. they were just out-experienced, plus 4 goals of sheer quality. despite their convincing two results, beating spurs 3-0 at home and arsenal 8-2 at home, the performance that citeh put out at white hart lane over a full strength spurs is very, very scary indeed. don't know how to point a finger at the situation, i don't think that you can really count on this united performance (aside from getting one over their arch-rivals). the arsenal defending was just shambolic at large parts. the only team that got a shorter straw this weekend is my dear blackburn (missing two penalties only to lose at the death to a non-penalty:/ at least arsenal have got the OT fixture out of their calendar. i remember 7-1 last year. oh the horror.) football wise, i'm just looking forward to the manchester derby. at the rate chelsea are going, they are not going to restore any london pride this campaign. but the blue-red feud is one to watch this season.

on another (less bitter, haha) note, i must say that i am half beginning to lose interest in the followings of all this madness. since visiting the UK, and reading the news (especially united's IPO in singapore. yay to dumb more dumb supporter money flow), the gulf between the teams in the league just bears stupidity at times. real, barca, united, city, chelsea, pool? they should just go and set up a european super league, leaving the rest in their wake and their scouts watching games waiting to snap up young talent with wages beyond their wildest dreams. this is definitely not what football used to be 10-20 years ago. the sight of football today, the way that money drives the industry, the lack of loyalty (even amidst the high quality of stunning football on display), leaves the ardent fan sick to the stomach.

i'm sticking to my blackburn rovers til i die (or even till they hit league 2 at this rate).

i love the beautiful game, i hate the way money is ruining everything. much like sin. gospel reminders.
